Gartner® recently released their latest report on Browser Security: “Emerging Tech: Security—The Future of Enterprise Browsers”.
Gartner research delved into the future of browser and browser security, spotlighting the growing necessity of embedding protection within the browsing platform itself.
Gartner predicts that by 2030, the browser will mature into a platform for businesses to distribute software, gather intelligence, control access, and enable secure remote work seamlessly.
Furthermore, “by 2025, enterprise browsers or extensions will be featured in 25% of web security competitive situations, up from less than 5% today.”
This transformation will be propelled by security capabilities from third-party solutions.
The report distinguishes two types of Browser Security solutions:
- Enterprise browsers: standalone web access apps with integrated security, centralized policy management, visibility, reporting, productivity, and collaboration tools.
- Browser extensions: Centrally managed agent executed by browser application to deliver additional security services.
