Tel Aviv, Israel – July 9, 2019 – Perception Point, a leading cybersecurity firm preventing file, URL, and social-engineering based attacks in any content-exchange channel, today announced it has been listed as a Representative Vendor for cloud email security supplements in Gartner’s Market Guide Report for Email Security*.
Representative Vendors were selected on the basis of one or both of the following: “Client interest via searches on Gartner.com and inquiries about that vendor for email security” and “offering email security capabilities in ways that are unique, innovative and/or demonstrate forward-looking product strategies.”
Given the increasing sophistication of attacks, and limited native security capabilities of Office 365 and Gmail, companies need to re-evaluate their email security in order to discover any gaps they may have.
According to Gartner, enterprises need to, “Address gaps in the advanced threat defense capabilities of an incumbent secure email gateway (SEG) by adding a cloud email security supplement (CESS) tailored for this purpose, if replacement is not an option.”
The report features CESS solutions as a new category of email security. “Cloud email security supplements (CESSs) focus on specific threats, often in the realm of hard-to-detect phishing, and can leverage full access to cloud-hosted inboxes via APIs for detection and remediation. Most of these products focus on phishing, but some go well beyond to include sandboxing and URL rewriting/time-of-click analysis, thereby directly competing with SEGs (secure email gateway); however, for most organizations, the SEG remains the workhorse of their email security architecture,” says Gartner. A CESS is designed to close security gaps, if not completely replace traditional SEG’s.
Perception Point is built to fully replace legacy SEGs as enterprises move to the cloud. Its next generation email security platform combines prevention of APTs, phishing, malware, impersonation and BEC attacks with a cloud-native architecture. In independent testing, Perception Point outperformed leading SEGs in detection accuracy while also delivering zero false positives.
“We are proud to be recognized by Gartner as a Representative Vendor of cloud email security supplements, which we feel is an emerging category of next generation email security built for the modern advanced threat landscape,” says Yoram Salinger, CEO of Perception Point. “In a world where more companies are shifting to the cloud, and email is becoming more vulnerable by the day, our technology has been built to serve the speed, scale and ease of deployment needed by the modern enterprise, while delivering the highest levels of detection.”
“The need for better scale and speed is particularly relevant in light of the concerning growth in account takeover and insider threats leveraging email traffic within the organization,” adds Shlomi Levin, Co-founder and CTO at Perception Point. “As Gartner estimates that ‘by 2023, 65% of organizations will inspect their intradomain email traffic for advanced threats, which is a major increase from 7% in 2019,’ we believe they must upgrade their email traffic security”.
